As a result of building appropriate mathematical models and study of the international experience, it is proposed to raise the amount of the RA minimum salary from 68.000 AMD and make 75.000 AMD from January 1, 2023. The RA Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Ruben Sargsyan said about this during the RA NA regular sittings.

The package of the draft laws on Amending the Law on Minimum Monthly Salary and the on Making Amendments and Addendum to the RA Labor Code authored by the Government was debated on November 15.

The package of drafts proposes to amend in the amounts of the monthly and hourly tariff provisions, raising it. The initiative stems from the Government activity programme. While working out the package of drafts the present social-economic situation, as well as the results of the base analysis containing information on macro-economic indicators was taken into consideration. The package of drafts was debated and endorsed at the Head Committee.

The member of the Standing Committee on Labor and Social Affairs Zaruhi Batoyan noted that the package of drafts is the component of the processes of the Government programmes’ implementation and underlined that the Government set to make the minimum salary 85.000 AMD until 2026.

She added that by October 2022, record was set in Armenia concerning the jobs: 691.000 jobs were registered. During the period from September 2018 until October 2022 the number of jobs increased by 108.000. “The fixing of the minimum salary has not only financial expression, but it also contains certain social guarantees,” the co-rapporteur concluded, calling on the MPs to vote for the draft.
